Life is too short to keep
organising it around fear
A phobia can shrink your world without you even noticing. You stop booking flights. You avoid certain routes. You make excuses. Over time the thing you fear grows larger — and your life gets smaller.
Book a Free ChatWhat a phobia actually is
A phobia is an intense, irrational fear of a specific object, situation or experience that poses little or no real danger. Unlike general anxiety, a phobia is triggered by something specific — and the response is immediate, overwhelming and very difficult to reason with.
Because the fear is held subconsciously, consciously knowing the phobia is irrational does nothing to reduce it. That is why hypnotherapy and IEMT work so well — both approaches access the subconscious directly and update the association at its source.
Common phobias I treat
Dogs, spiders, snakes, birds, wasps, mice — animal phobias are among the most common and often begin in childhood.
Fear of flying can prevent people from attending family events, taking holidays, or travelling for work. It often involves fear of turbulence, loss of control, or catastrophic thinking about crashes.
Fear of injections, blood, dental treatment or medical procedures. These phobias can have serious health consequences when they prevent people from seeking necessary care.
Fear of heights that goes beyond normal caution — triggered by staircases, balconies, bridges, or looking out of windows in tall buildings.
Fear of driving, or specifically of motorways, roundabouts, or busy roads — often following a road accident or near-miss.
One of the most debilitating and least-talked-about phobias. Fear of being sick or seeing others be sick can severely restrict diet, travel, social life and parenting.
An intense fear of being judged, humiliated or rejected in social situations. Social phobia is distinct from shyness — it is a genuine anxiety disorder that can make everyday interactions feel unbearable.
Fear of enclosed or confined spaces — lifts, tunnels, MRI machines, crowded rooms. Claustrophobia can limit travel and medical care significantly.
Signs a fear has become a phobia
- You go out of your way to avoid the trigger, even when it is inconvenient
- The fear response feels completely out of proportion — but you cannot control it
- Just thinking about the feared thing makes you anxious
- Your avoidance is limiting your work, relationships or quality of life
- You feel embarrassed or ashamed about the fear, which stops you seeking help
The approach
How I treat fears and phobias
Sessions are gentle, non-exposure based, and entirely in your control. You will not be asked to handle spiders, watch frightening footage, or confront the thing you fear directly.
Developed by Andrew T. Austin, IEMT is particularly fast and effective for phobias. Using structured eye movements and precise questioning, it works directly with the emotional and identity imprints that keep the phobia response locked in place. Many clients find their phobia response significantly reduced — or gone entirely — within a single session.
In a deeply relaxed state, I work with the subconscious to update the association between the feared stimulus and the danger response — replacing it with a calm, neutral reaction.

Your questions answered
Frequently asked questions
Will I have to confront the thing I am afraid of?
No. My approach is not exposure-based. You will not be asked to handle, view or approach the object or situation you fear. Treatment works through the subconscious mind, without direct exposure.
How quickly does phobia treatment work?
Many clients experience a significant reduction in their phobia response after just one session. Two sessions resolves most specific phobias entirely.
What if I have had my phobia my whole life?
The length of time you have had a phobia does not determine how quickly it can be resolved. The subconscious can update at any age — and many of my most dramatic results have come from clients who had carried their phobia for decades.
Can you treat phobias in children?
Yes. Children respond exceptionally well to phobia treatment. Find out more about children's services →
